156 lean pages of brilliance. I've seen the film loads of times- it's one of my favourites- and that follows the book pretty faithfully- even down to dialogue. I always admire a writer who can give you a story with fleshed out characters and leaves you with loads to ponder in such a slim book. (Graham Greene always springs to mind.)
At the end of the story you are left with Mendez's words: "Take a good look at Russell. You will never see another one like him as long as you live."
Powerful stuff.
